Three Secret MtG Black and Red Enchantments

It’s time for my first card review! When I’m searching for cards to complete theorized decks (such as my red and black sliver deck), I occasionally stumble upon little treasures that I never knew. I’ve compiled a list of three cards together (big list, right?) so that you can ask the question: did you know about these awesome Three Secret MtG Black and Red Enchantments?

1. Everlasting Torment

I love wither. It wouldn’t have mixed well with the regeneration in my sliver deck, but I can sure see this card finding a home in the right concept. Not to mention losing the ability to heal!–this smacks white and green right in the face. (Which is personally disheartening with my personal love for white and blue, but whaddaya gonna do. *shrugs*)

Not to mention, I really love when you get the either-or mana costs. Shadowmoor, Eventide, and Morningtide are all killer for that sort of thing.

2. Fists of the Demigod

Did I mention I love wither? First strike is nice too, but wither and +2/+2? Sign me up! This is also another either-or mana cost, courtesy of Shadowmoor.

The best part of all, though: it’s a common. Places like Shuffle and Cut offer it for a decent price. Everlasting Torment and Fists of the Demigod get along well with one another, not to mention the creature card that the demigod enchantment is based on… ;)

Next enchant, in no particular order!

3. Rain of Gore

The neat thing about this enchantment lies in cards that give life to target player, such as Heroes Reunion. (Although talk about reverse colors for mana costs. >.>) There are several cards based on life gain with less mana costs than their damage equivalents.

You have to be careful of the cards that only let you gain life though; Dawnglow Infusion could be a real self mutilator. But if your enemy has creatures/enchantments that let them gain life every round… :) Wall of Reverence never felt so painful!

These cards aren’t what I would call Sliver deck ideal, but they’re still interesting!

Spirits Deck

This is a 60-card green and black deck themed on Spirits. It uses lots of Arcane spells. Enjoy!

17 Non-Legendary Spirits: [4x] Lifespinner, [4x] Hana Kami, [3x] Thief of Hope, [2x] Radjan Spirit, [4x] Will-o’-the-Wisp

9 Legendary Spirits: [1x] Iname, Life Aspect, [1x] Iname as One, [1x] Kokusho, the Evening Star, [1x] Bounteous Kirin, [1x] He Who Hungers, [1x] Jugan, the Rising Star, [1x] Kodama of the Center Tree, [1x] Sekki, Seasons’ Guide, [1x] Spirit of the Night

1 Arcane Sorcery: [1] Choice of Damnations

8 Arcane Instants: [2x] Death Denied, [2x] Nourishing Shoal, [2x] Unchecked Growth, [2x] Wear Away

2 Tutors: [1x] Worldly Tutor, [1x] Demonic Tutor

1 Artifact: [1x] Sol Ring

22 Lands: 10 Swamps, 10 Forests, 2 Others

The Lifespinner’s ability is key to the single legends roaming the deck: “Tap, Sacrifice three Spirits: Search your library for a legendary Spirit card and put it into play. Then shuffle your library.” This obviously means that you’ll need lots of Spirits to sacrifice, which is where the single-drop wisps and kami come in.

Wordly Tutor gets the Lifespinners out quicker, and Demonic Tutor can help with the creature sifting or with a fun Arcane spell. These older cards make the deck not legal for Extended, but given the original inspiration for designing this deck was my infinite love for the artwork on Radjan Spirit–an older card–that didn’t seem like much of a problem. And since we’re working with an old deck, gotta drop in the Sol Ring. :)

Found some other cards while sifting for options for the deck…

Other Interesting Cards: Goryo’s Vengeance, Keening Banshee
